Mulching & Wood Chipping North Shore
On-site chipping of branches and prunings across the North Shore, plus bulk hardwood mulch delivered for garden beds and paths in Chatswood, Gordon, Killara and surrounding suburbs.
Most clients find us one of two ways, either through a pile of prunings from a weekend's garden work that is now too large for the bin, or through a landscaping job that needs a few cubic metres of mulch spread across beds before the planting goes in. The chipper handles the first problem, the tipper handles the second, and both can happen on the same visit if it makes sense.
For on-site chipping we bring the machine to the address and run material up to about 200mm diameter through it. That covers branch piles from DIY pruning sessions, green waste from a storm, or the offcuts left after an arborist job. The chip stays on site in a pile for you to use, or we load it onto the truck and take it away. Either way it is faster and cheaper than multiple trailer runs.
For bulk mulch delivery we stock fresh hardwood chip from our own tree-removal jobs, aged composted mulch for beds and new plantings, and dyed landscape mulch for formal front gardens where colour and presentation matter. All ordered by the cubic metre, delivered by tipper across the North Shore. Spreading can be added as a line item if you'd rather not wheelbarrow a full load yourself.

Mulching & Wood Chipping FAQs
What size branches can the chipper handle?
Up to around 200mm in diameter clean through, which covers most residential prunings and storm material. Anything bigger gets cut to shorter lengths first, then the smaller end pieces go through the machine. Very thick trunk sections are cut to rounds and either left for firewood or carted away as a separate line.
What is the difference between fresh chip and composted mulch?
Fresh chip comes straight from the chipper after a tree removal, mostly hardwood, good for paths and moisture retention around established trees. Aged composted mulch has spent months breaking down, is finer and darker, and is gentle enough to use directly in garden beds and around new plantings where fresh chip would temporarily tie up nitrogen.
How much mulch do I need to order?
For a 75 to 100mm layer, one cubic metre covers roughly 10 to 13 square metres of bed area. Measure your beds in metres, multiply length by width, and divide by around 11 for a rough cubic-metre figure. Ring through the dimensions and we'll work it out before you commit to a load.
Can you deliver and spread mulch in the same visit?
Yes. The tipper reverses to wherever the load can sit and drops it, then the crew spreads it across your beds before leaving. Works well for larger gardens where wheelbarrowing a full load is not practical. Add the spreading line to the quote and we'll do both in one visit.
