Land Clearing North Shore
Block prep, regrowth knockdown and targeted vegetation removal across the North Shore, worked to permit lines, council overlays and heritage conservation requirements.
Land clearing on the North Shore covers a range of jobs, stripping the footprint of a rear extension DA, taking out overgrown scrub in a large Ku-ring-gai garden, or clearing the vegetation around a bushland-edge property in Gordon or Pymble. Each job starts with a walk-around so we understand what needs to come out, what should stay, and where the permit or heritage boundaries sit.
Council overlays on the North Shore are often more involved than clients expect. Heritage conservation areas cover many older residential streets in Mosman, Crows Nest and across Ku-ring-gai. Vegetation protection orders and tree preservation orders apply to most mature natives. We flag anything that needs a permit or a council consultation before we take a saw to it, cutting first and asking questions later is how significant fines are incurred.
Once the scope is clear, clearing runs in sequence, drop the lower scrub and regrowth first to open up access, then take the larger trees within the permit footprint, chip everything through to around 200mm, and stockpile heavier trunk material at one corner. Mulch can be left in piles for you to use, spread across beds, or taken off site on a tipper, depending on what the next stage of work needs.

Land Clearing FAQs
Do I need a permit to clear vegetation on the North Shore?
Almost always, for anything of meaningful size. Heritage conservation areas, vegetation protection orders and tree preservation orders all apply across North Sydney, Ku-ring-gai, Mosman, Lane Cove and Willoughby. Small weedy scrub and exotic species under threshold sizes can usually go without paperwork. We walk the block, identify what is protected, and guide you to the right council process if a permit is needed before we start.
Can you work around trees that need to stay?
Yes. Protected natives, heritage-listed specimens and anything inside a conservation overlay gets marked and barricaded before clearing starts. We use trunk guards around anything staying to prevent damage from equipment. If a builder needs formal tree protection zones to a council standard, we install those to spec.
What happens to the mulch and timber after clearing?
Default is chipping on site and leaving the mulch in piles for you to use or spread. Heavier trunk timber gets cut to rounds and either stacked along a fence for firewood or removed. If the builder needs the site fully clear, we can arrange a tipper to take everything off in one load.
How does heritage listing affect what I can clear?
Properties inside a heritage conservation area often have stricter rules than the standard tree order, certain species, sizes or positions may be protected regardless of what the base planning rules say. We identify any heritage constraints on the site walk and let you know what needs council sign-off before any work starts.
